Loft Community Partnership Launches a Summer Lunch Program
While on summer vacation, many children will no longer have access to the free or reduced meals they receive during the school year. In the Penn Manor School District, 50% of all students qualify for free or reduced meals. That’s 2,800 children at risk of going hungry this summer. That’s why we are launching a Gather & Nourish Summer Lunch Program to help bridge the gap and ensure that children in our community have access to nutritious meals during the summer months. The program runs for 10 weeks and provides five days of nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch items to Penn Manor families who participate.
The Loft Food Pantry is collecting non-perishable food to fill the lunch boxes/bags. You can also make a monetary donation so we can buy the items necessary. The Loft Community Partnership purchases food items for pennies on the dollar through the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, so we can stretch your charitable donations further than you can at your local grocery store.
Whatever way you choose to assist the Loft Community Partnership Summer Lunch Program, know that you will be making a difference in the lives of local children and their families. Together, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of our neighbors who face food insecurity.
